Azurin, 9 other PNP officials in UAE for Interpol conference

Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, Feb. 5. to represent the Philippines in the 24th Asian Regional Conference of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-Interpol).

The Chief PNP led the 10-man delegation from the police force for the three-day conference starting on Tuesday, Feb. 7, according to PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo.

"The conference seeks to strengthen member countries in the fight against transnational crime. Among the issues that are expected to be tackled are cybercrime, human trafficking, financial crime, and campaign against terrorism," said Fajardo.

"The conference is expected to beef up the processes in the exchange of information among member countries to further improve the fight against transnational crime," she added.

The conference is a follow-up on the 17th Annual Conference of Heads of National Central Bureaus of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-Interpol) held in Lyon, France where the PNP presented its analysis and other accomplishments.
