2 arrested for illegal possession of firearm, drugs in Las Piñas

Two men involved in a vehicular accident were arrested by members of the Las Piñas City police for illegal possession of firearm and drugs early morning of Sunday, Feb. 5.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, identified the suspects as Jefferson Garin, 32; and Raymund Mangubat, 39.

Santos said the suspects were brought to the Station Investigation and Detection Management Section (SIDMS) immediately after their arrest.

They were detained at the police custodial facility and were charged for illegal possession of firearm and drugs.

Investigation showed that the suspects were arrested around 1:30 a.m. along Alabang-Zapote Road, Barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Piñas.

Santos said prior to the arrest of the suspects, members of the Pamplona Sub-station responded to a vehicular accident involving the suspects who tried to escape.

He said the suspects were cornered by responding policemen at Neltex Real St. in Barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Piñas.

A body search on the suspects yielded one .9mm pistol with five live ammunition and three plastic sachets with six grams of suspected illegal drugs worth P40,800.
