House panel begins probe on 'unlawful activities' at Masungi Georeserve
The House of Representatives launched last week an investigation in aid of legislation on the alleged unauthorized and unlawful activities at the Masungi Georeserve in Rizal.

The probe was sought by Rizal 2nd district Rep. Emigdio Tanjuatco III, who filed House Resolution (HR) No.411.
Cavite 4th district Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. led the probe in his capacity as the chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources.
Attending the hearing as resource persons were Billie Dumaliang, Ann Dumaliang, and Ben Dumaliang of Masungi Georeserve.
Tanjuatco filed the measure so solons may look into alleged unlawful activities that have been worrisome to those safeguarding the conservation area.

"During July 2021 and February 2022, unprovoked attacks were committed against several Masungi Georeserve Forest Rangers, who were carrying out their duties," the Rizal lawmaker wrote in HR No.411.
"Last Sept. 18, 2022, more than 30 armed men have been encamped along the Marikina-Infanta Highway, between the Kaliwa and Marikina Watersheds. These men who refused to identify themselves, are allegedly associated with Sinagdala Security Agency Services who allegedly intend to occupy parcels of land within the area," he also stated.
