QCPD forms task group to probe shooting of Ombudsman employee

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) formed on Friday, Feb. 3, a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the shooting of an employee of the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City last Wednesday, Feb. 1

Dianne Paguirigan, 37, an administrative aide at the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices, was waiting for a ride to her office in front of the RCBC Bank at the corner of Quezon Ave. and Cordillera St. in Barangay Doña Josefa, Quezon City at around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday when an unidentified man forcibly grabbed her bag and shot her in the right chest.

The suspect immediately fled towards QC Circle while Paguiran was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center where she is still in critical condition.

Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the 11-member SITG Paguirigan will be led by QCPD Deputy District Director for Operations (DDDO) Col. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. and Quezon City-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (QC-CIDG) chief Lt. Col. Zyrus Michael Serrano.

Buslig Jr. will be the commander of the investigation group while Serrano will be the assistant commander.

"The SITG aims to facilitate the investigation of the incident in order to establish the motive behind the shooting of the victim and to identify and arrest the perpetrators," the QCPD said.

Torre III said the investigators have started to gather pieces of evidence such as closed circuit television (CCTV) recordings and testimonies of eyewitnesses in the incident area.

Maj. Don Don Llapitan, QCPD Criminal Investigation, and Detection Unit (CIDU) chief, also called on motorists who have dash cameras installed in their vehicles to cooperate with the investigators.

He said that some dash cameras may have recorded the incident, which will be valuable in the investigation.
