LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – An intelligence officer of the New People’s Army surrendered to the police in Ilocos Norte recently.
Col. Julius Suriben, Ilocos Norte police chief, said the 50-year-old surrenderer from Dumalneg and Adams, this province, was affiliated with the Fr. Zacarias Agatep Group operating in the Ilocos provinces, Cordillera region, and Cagayan Valley.
Suriben said the communist guerilla turned over a Garand rifle with 120 bullets.
Police endorsed the surrenderer to the local government unit of Adams and concerned agencies for appropriate government assistance.
Suriben appealed to the NPA to return to the fold of the law.
“I’m appealing to all former CTG members hiding in Ilocos Norte to come out and return to the fold of the law and to enjoy a peaceful living,” said Suriben.
