Newborn baby found inside styrofoam box in Lucena City sanitary landfill

LUCENA CITY, Quezon- A dead newborn baby was found inside a styrofoam box by a garbage sorter in the sanitary landfill on Friday, Feb. 3 in this city.

Police report said that garbage sorter Alvin Bongot who discovered the baby reported it to sanitary landfill manager Ulpiano Fedencio Tabernilla who then coordinated with the Lucena police station.

The baby boy, whose umbilical cord was still uncut, was blessed by Father Noel Cabungcal of St. Isidore Parish in Brgy. Ibabang Dupay before it was laid to rest at the New Lucena Public Cemetery.

Police are tracking the baby's mother, the report said.
