'The Glory,' 'Reborn Rich' among top favorite programs in Korea in January

Korean actress Song Hye-kyo’s “The Glory” and Song Joong-ki’s “Reborn Rich” emerged as two of the top favorite TV and streaming programs in South Korea in January.

Gallup Korea released the results of its monthly survey, which now incorporated programs released on TV channels and over-the-top streaming services such as Netflix.

The survey previously focused on ranking TV programs but with the popularity of OTT streaming, Gallup Korea decided to revamp it and include streaming shows.

Gallup Korea held the survey from Jan. 17 to 19 among 1,000 people aged 18 and above in South Korea.

Placing first is TV Chosun’s “Mr. Trot” season 2 with 8.5 percent preference. Netflix’s “The Glory” starring Song Hye-kyo placed second with 8 percent.

Song Joong-ki’s “Reborn Rich” (JTBC) grabbed sixth place with three percent. SBS’ “Running Man” and MBN’s “I Am a Natural Person” tied for seventh place with 2.9 percent.

Here are the top 20 favorite TV and streaming platform programs in South Korea for January 2023:

1. Mr. Trot season 2 (TV Chosun) - 8.5%

2. The Glory (Netflix) - 8%

3. You Quiz on the Block (tvN) - 3.4%

4. I Live Alone (MBC) - 3.3%

The Love in Your Eyes - 3.3%

6. Reborn Rich (JTBC) - 3%

7. Running Man (SBS) - 2.9%

9. Burning Trotman (MBN) - 2.7%

10. My Little Old Boy (SBS) - 2.4%

11. Payback (SBS) - 2.3%

12. Three Bold Siblings (KBS2) - 2.1%

13. Kim Eo-jun’s Humility (YouTube) - 2%

14. 2 Days & 1 Night (KBS2) - 1.8%

15. Vengeance of the Bride (KBS2) - 1.7%

16. World Theme Travel (EBS) - 1.6%

17. Casino (Disney+) - 1.4%

18. Animal Farm TV (SBS) 1.2%
