The Muntinlupa City government is ramping up its efforts against fake news by teaching employees on how to fight disinformation.
Its Public Information Office (PIO) recently held a Truth Advocates Workshop with employees with the aim of getting the public properly informed.
PIO acting head Noemi Gonzales said city government employees will serve as "truth advocates who will be point persons in the activities of the departments of city hall, as sources of information, and as content creators.”
Topics discussed in the workshop included basic writing, photography, social media management and the role of employees as truth advocates.
Gonzales added that employees are partners by the city government in bringing accurate information to the public.
This is also in line with Mayor Ruffy Biazon's active policy for city hall employees in combating disinformation.
