Mayor Joy visits victims of QC fire

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte visited on Thursday night, Feb. 2, the victims of fire in Barangay Apolonio Samson in the city last Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Belmonte and the City Social Services Development Department (SSDD) checked the situation and distributed financial assistance to the affected families who were temporarily staying in Masambong National High School, Masambong Tennis Court, and Community Center.

The city government said that they earlier sent food packs and material assistance to the victims which include hygiene kits, rice, utensils, and mats.

The mayor assured the families that the city government is ready to assist them to recover from the incident.

The City Veterinary Department also established a pet holding area at Barangay Masambong Tennis Court Club, where the victims’ cats and dogs are given medical attention.

It added that the SSDD continues to validate the number of families and individuals affected by the fire.

The fire hit houses on Toctocan Street at around 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday and was extinguished at 6:20 p.m. on the same day.
