The Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) bared on Friday, Feb. 3, that it has completed a flood control project in Vintar, Ilocos Norte worth P44 million.

DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan said the structure will protect the residents from heavy flooding and significantly reduce damage to properties during natural calamities.
“The construction of this river protection structure will not only prevent inundation and damage to properties but will also support the growing economy of Vintar as a local tourist destination,” he stressed.
Tan commended the Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office for the on-time construction of the 216-meter flood wall along the Vintar River also known as Bislak River in Barangay Alsem.
DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel said that the flood mitigation structure was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) which covers the construction of stone masonry on steel sheet piles.
The Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office has also recently completed the implementation of the 258-meter flood wall along Bislak River in Barangay San Ramon.
