70 companies join Bulacan job fair, offer employment to over 3,000 residents

A total of 70 companies offered over 11,000 jobs to more than 3,000 applicants who pre-registered in a job fair conducted by the provincial government of Bulacan and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) as part of the commemoration of the 96th birth anniversary of Gat Blas Ople on Friday. Feb. 3.

The Provincial Youth, Sports, and Public Employment Service Office (PYSPESO) and the DMW held the job fair at The Pavillion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos.

According to PYSPESO head Atty. Kenneth Z. Ocampo-Lantin, 48 participating local employers offered a total of 4,309 jobs while 22 overseas employment agencies offered a total of 6,918 job vacancies abroad.

In her message as the guest of honor, DMW Secretary Maria Susana ‘Toots’ V. Ople reminded the Bulakenyos to be cautious of job offers posted on online platforms such as Facebook, as she encouraged job hunters to also consider local employment.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando also expressed his desire to hold a job fair on a monthly basis and assured that every Bulakenyo will benefit from the growing economy of the province.

The job fair also set up a one-stop shop where applicants could avail of government services from the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), DMW, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

First-time job seeker Jeymalyn Larin, a fresh graduate, was one of the applicants hired on the spot. She thanked the provincial government for the opportunity.

Coinciding with the job fair was a medical mission benefiting over 400 overseas Filipino workers and Bulakenyos. They were given free general checkups, medicines, ElectroCardioGram (ECG), X-Ray, vaccines for measles, and Covid-19 vaccines and booster shots.

The medical mission, which was conducted in collaboration with Damayan sa Barangay, was participated in by 10 doctors from DMW, 10 doctors from the Province of Pampanga, and eight doctors from the local government of Bulacan.
