2 cousins killed in Negros motorcycle crash

BACOLOD CITY – Two teenage cousins died after their motorcycle crashed into a parked truck loaded with sugarcane pulp in Hacienda Baga-as, Barangay Efigenio, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Police identified the victims as Nataniel Conde, 18, and Alvin Bendoy, 19, residents of Barangay Bagtic, Silay City.

Capt. Dan Oliver Salazar, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victims came from the Dinagsa Festival in Cadiz City along with their other cousins when they decided to drop by Barangay 12 in Talisay City.

Salazar said the victims’ cousins told them not to go home anymore but they insisted as they have an exam the following day.

He said Conde drove the motorcycle amid the rain and slippery road.

Salazar said the victims were allegedly speeding on their way home and they sustained serious injuries despite wearing helmets. They died on the spot, he added.

He said the truck was parked in the area because the 28-year-old driver was having dinner nearby. The truck driver was taken into custody after the incident.
