ILOILO CITY – To prevent low birth weight and stunting, the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-6 launched another phase of the supplementing feeding program for women and children in Western Visayas.
NNC-6 Regional Coordinator Reginaldo Guillen said that Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program Phases 3 and 4 is part of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022.
“The objective of the program is to contribute to the prevention of stunting among children 0-23 months old by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes among nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women and children 6-23 months old,” explained Guillen.
The program was launched in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Monday, Feb. 27, for the component cities of La Carlota, San Carlos, Silay, and Victorias as well as the towns of EB Magalona, Isabela, Manapla, Murcia, Pontevedra, and Valladolid.
It will also be launched in Passi City, Iloilo on Tuesday, Feb. 28, for the towns of Calinog and Guimbal and Passi City.
