Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez announced on Monday, Feb. 27, that the city's Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) collection of business taxes and fees reached P2.825 billion.
Olivarez made the announcement during the flag-raising ceremony held at the Parañaque City Hall quadrangle. He reiterated that BPLO was able to collect an increase of P525 billion for the period of January to February this year.
He congratulated the team of BPLO, under the leadership of Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, for surpassing the collection of business taxes and fees from P2.3 billion to P2.825 billion.
Olivarez said the ease of doing business in the city through streamlining and simplification of business permits, licensing procedures, and setting up of the Electronic Business One Stop Shop (eBOSS) contributed to the high collection of business taxes and fees.
He also said Malaya’s introduction of online services in the renewal of business permits and licenses also helped a lot in improving the city's tax collection.
Meanwhile, Malaya said business taxes collected by BPLO compromised 55 percent of the city's total locally sourced revenue.
