BAGUIO CITY – Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, reported on Monday, Feb. 27, that the two major events of the Panagbenga Festival – the grand street dancing parade on Feb. 25 and the grand float parade on Feb. 26 – were relatively peaceful.

"Actually, we added police officers on Sunday because we have many guests who are VIPs, such as Sen. Imee Marcos, Sen. Lito Lapid, DOT Secretary Christina Frasco, chief PNP Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., and celebrities," said Bazar. Bazar said 1,829 policemen, force multipliers, student interns, and volunteers were deployed to secure the parade routes. He said the collaboration between the police and other government agencies made the festival peaceful and orderly. Also, Bazar said, the presence of security forces on the parade routes and other places of convergence contributed to the success of the festivity. He has scheduled post-assessment meetings with concerned offices to identify areas of improvement and immediately address concerns. Bazar thanked the public for their cooperation with the heightened security measures laid down by the Cordillera police. He lauded personnel and volunteers who patiently performed their duties to secure the two major events of the Panagbenga Festival.
