K-pop boy band Golden Child member to enlist in the Korean military 


Another K-pop idol is set to enlist in the military, a mandatory for all Korean men. 

K-pop boy band Golden Child member Y (Choi Sung-yun) will start his military service on March 20. 

In a notice on Feb. 27, Woollim Entertainment, the group’s agency, said, “We notify about enlistment of Golden Child member Y (Choi SungYun). Y (Choi SungYun) will fulfill his required time with the military by enlisting in the army on March 20, 2023.”

“The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. and please understand that there is no separate event to prevent safety accidents due to on-site congestion. Considering that it is a time to be by military personnel, please refrain from visiting fans, “it said. 

Y will release a digital single album before enlistment and this will be released in mid-March. He “will meet with fans through broadcasts.”

“We ask for your continued support and encourage for Y (Choi SungYun) until he finishes his military service and comes back,” it said. 

Y will be the second member of Golden Child to enlist. In March last year, Golden Child’s leader Lee Dae-yeol started his military service. 

Golden Child performed on a show in Manila last October. 

On Feb. 26, it was announced that BTS member J-Hope will be enlisting in the military and has started “applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement. We will inform you of further updates in due course.”
