Quezon City's Covid-19 cases on 'downward trend' — OCTA

The number of Covid-19 cases in Quezon City is in a downtrend, based on the latest monitoring of the OCTA Research Group.
“The seven-day average in new daily Covid-19 cases in Quezon City decreased to 238 for the week from August 19 to 25, based on the DOH (Department of Health) case bulletin,” said OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David in a post on Twitter.
“This is 7 percent lower than the seven-day average for the week from August 12 to 18, for a one week growth rate of -7 percent,” he added.
David noted that Quezon City’s seven-day average was previously at -5 percent, and is now “on a two-week decline in cases.”
Meanwhile, its current incidence or average daily attack rate (ADAR) is 7.47 per day per 100,000 population, which is considered “moderate.”
David added that the reproduction number in Quezon City as of August 22 was 1.02, which is also considered moderate.
“This is lower than the reproduction number of 1.06 as of August 15. The RT-PCR testing positivity rate in Quezon City decreased to 13.5 percent as of August 24, compared with 15.5 percent as of August 20,” he said.
“Healthcare utilization for Covid-19 in Quezon City was low at 40 percent, while ICU occupancy was also low at 36 percent, both as of August 24,” he added.
David pointed out that these are lower than the healthcare utilization of 45 percent and ICU occupancy of 49 percent on Aug. 21.
“Quezon City remained at moderate risk at this time. Cases are expected to continue on a downward trend, but there are no guarantees,” he said.
