Metro Manila's Covid-19 positivity rate slightly down to 12.1% — OCTA

The OCTA Research Group on Tuesday, Sept. 6 said that Metro Manila’s Covid-19 daily positivity rate was down slightly over the past week.

In an update shared on Twitter, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that Metro Manila’s positivity rate “decreased slightly from 12.9 percent to 12.1 percent.”

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.

David also noted that positivity rates in Bataan, Batangas, and Pangasinan have improved to less than 10 percent—6.6 percent, 9.2 percent, and 8.9 percent, respectively.

However, “very high” positivity rates were still observed in Albay (32.2 percent), Camarines Sur (33.5 percent), Nueva Ecija (31.8 percent), and Tarlac (22.5 percent).

The World Health Organization has recommended that the Covid-19 positivity rate should remain at 5 percent or lower.

A positivity rate lower than 5 percent indicates that the spread of the virus has been contained.
