Marcos to discuss PH concerns on South China Sea during Indonesian visit
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is expected to discuss the country's concerns on the South China Sea situation during his talk with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on his first ever state visit.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza said Friday that aside from bilateral relations, there will be exchanges between the two leaders concerning regional and global developments.
With the Philippines and Indonesia being both members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), "there will clearly be discussions on key regional issues of mutual interest, including the West Philippine Sea or South China Sea issue," Daza said in a press conference.
That was "cognizant that all three countries actually have the common goal to maintain peace and stability and prevent incidents in this particular part of the world," she added, noting that Marcos and Widodo will also talk about other important geopolitical developments.
Marcos Jr. will be undertaking his inaugural state visit, his visit to Indonesia from Sep. 4 to 6.
