SPD: Another test can still be performed on body of 'middleman' in Lapid slay
Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft said another test can still be performed on the body of Crisanto Villamor, the alleged middleman in the murder of Percival Mabasa, who died inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Kraft said they are respecting the result of the autopsy conducted on the body of Villamor tagged by the self-confessed gunman, Joel Escorial, who plotted the killing of Mabasa, known as Percy Lapid, on Oct. 3 in Las Piñas.
He said the SPD’s forensic unit was present during the autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The SPD chief, however, said that another test can still be conducted to determine if there is another cause of Villamor’s death.
Kraft also admitted that the opening of passbook of Escorial is a big help for the police to unmask the mastermind behind the killing of Lapid.
He said the Special Investigation task Group (SITG) is trying to identify the person who paid or deposited the money in Escorial’s bank account in exchange for Lapid’s murder.
Kraft said they consider the murder case of Lapid solved considering Escorial has already surrendered and is now under the police custody.
He added the accomplices of Escorial in killing Lapid have already been identified -- brothers Edmon and Israel Dimaculangan and certain “Orly/Orlando”.
Kraft said the investigation of the case and the hunt for Escorial’s cohorts still continue.
