'No sign of external physical injury' on body of 'middleman' in Percy Lapid killing -- NBI

The results of the autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the remains of alleged “middleman” in the plot to kill broadcaster Percival Mabasa, better known as Percy Lapid, showed “no apparent signs of external physical injury.”
The NBI findings confirmed the statement issued by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) last Friday, Oct. 21, that Jun Globa Villamor, the alleged “middleman,” died last Oct. 18 due to natural causes.
BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag had said: “Initial findings showed no signs of physical external injuries which probably indicate a natural cause of death or no signs of foul play.”
The NBI’s “Task Force Villamor” submitted its report on Villamor’s autopsy last Oct. 20.
A copy of the report was given to journalists covering the Department of Justice (DOJ) by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla.
The report stated:
“There were no apparent signs of external physical injury.
“Post mortem lividity, beginning, is seen on the posterior aspect of the thorax, mainly on the shoulders and also on the left lower extremity. Based on this, the pronouncement of death is consistent with the time of Death.
“The heart showed a hemorrhagic area over the left ventricle. The mitral vale is sclerotic, which could indicate previous illnesses or valvular infection. Cut sections were collected for Histopathology.
“The upper left and right central incisors are missing (antemortem), with closed, sealed gums.
“The incisions noted on the body were all post-mortem (embalming sites).
“Discoloration (patchy areas) over the left and lower extremity were examined and showed no vital tissue reaction.
“The neck and its internal structures were examined and dissected, findings were unremarkable.”
The report also stated that Jun G. Villamor “was brought to the NBP Hospital and declared dead by 2:05 p.m. of Oct. 18, 2022 after 35 minutes of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) by Dr. Marjorie Ann P. Sanidad.”
“That the body was received in the morgue at Eastern Funeral Homes by 8:11 p.m., Oct. 18, 2022. Minutes after receiving the body, the mortician/embalmer Edgar “Bong” Entrina, started the embalming process,” the report said.
It also stated that Covid-19 antigen test done on Jun G. Villamor showed negative result.
Self-confessed killer Joel S. Escorial, in his affidavit, identified Villamor as the person who hired him to kill Mabasa for a P550,000 reward.
Escorial and three other suspects -- brothers Edmon and Israel Dimaculangan, and a person identified only as “Orly” or “Orlando” – have been charged with murder before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for Mabasa’s killing.
Escorial asked the DOJ to conduct a preliminary investigation on the charge. The DOJ set the formal investigation starting Oct. 24.
