Iloilo logs 18 cases of XBB, XBC Covid-19 subvariant

ILOILO CITY – The province of Iloilo logged 18 cases of the new Covid-19 sub-variants XBB and XBC.

The Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said 14 cases of the sub-variant XBB were recorded in nine towns and the component city of Passi.

Three XBB cases were logged in the towns of Oton and Pavia and one each in the municipalities of Alimodian, Cabatuan, Lambunao, Leganes, Miag-ao, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara and Passi City.

The IPHO said Pavia has four cases of the XBC sub-variant.

The Department of Health had earlier reported that 60 cases of the XBB sub-variant were recorded in Western Visayas region.

The agency did not disclose the location of these cases.

Some cases were detected in the samples tested at the Philippine Genome Center-Visayas at the main campus of University of the Philippines (UP Visayas) in Miag-ao, town, Iloilo.

The Iloilo City Health Office is sending samples to PCG-Visayas to find out if there are XBB and XBC cases in the regional capital.
