DOH logs 1,554 new Covid-19 cases, over 1,300 more Omicron subvariant cases

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,554 more cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The figure brought the country’s cumulative tally of cases to 3,971,455. A total of 25,004 patients are still battling with Covid-19, the DOH said.

In the recent two weeks, Metro Manila recorded the highest infections with 11,347, followed by Calabarzon with 5,307, Central Luzon with 2,712, Davao region with 1,417, and Western Visayas with 946.

The total number of recoveries increased to 3,883,122 while the country’s death toll jumped to 63,329.

Omicron subvariants

Meanwhile, the DOH also reported more cases of Omicron subvariants in the Philippines.

Based on the latest genome sequencing results, there were 605 additional cases of BA.5, 18 more cases of BA.4, five cases of BA.2.75, and 680 cases belonging to other Omicron sublineages.

The DOH reminded the public to still follow the minimum public health standards and get vaccinated.

“By wearing our masks, isolating when sick, and ensuring good airflow, we can maintain being in low risk case classification and we can further advance to the new normal,” it said.

“Vaccine immunity wanes over time and to avoid this, let us join the PinasLakas campaign to remain protected and to further strengthen our wall of immunity,” it added.
