Covid-19 positivity rates down in Metro Manila, 3 Luzon provinces — OCTA

The independent OCTA Research Group observed lower Covid-19 positivity rates in Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan, and Laguna over the past week.
In an update shared on Twitter on Sunday, Oct. 9, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David noted that the positivity rate in Metro Manila was down to 18.1 percent on Oct. 7 from 19.1 percent on Oct. 1.
During the same monitoring period, positivity rates in Batangas, Bulacan, and Laguna have also decreased to 10.9 percent from 13.9 percent, 17.7 percent from 20.4 percent, and 16.9 percent from 19.7 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, David said that positivity rates in other provinces have increased over the past week.
These provinces were: Benguet (9.3 percent from 7.3 percent), Cavite (24 percent from 20.5 percent), Cebu (5.7 percent from 4.3 percent), Davao del Sur (13.4 percent from 8.3 percent), Iloilo (8.7 percent from 4.6 percent), Negros Occidental (5.5 percent from 4.9 percent), Pampanga (19.5 percent from 14.8 percent), Rizal (26.1 percent from 25.6 percent), and Tarlac (32.8 percent from 23.5 percent).
Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.
The World Health Organization-recommended positivity rate is 5 percent or less to show that the spread of the virus is under control.
