Covid-19 positivity rate decreasing in Metro Manila, increasing in some provinces — OCTA

The independent OCTA Research Group on Thursday, Oct. 13 said that the positivity rate of Covid-19 in Metro Manila is decreasing while the rate in some provinces is increasing.

In an update shared on Twitter, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that Metro Manila’s positivity rate was further down to 15 percent on Oct. 11 from 17.9 percent on Oct. 8.

He earlier said that a peak positivity rate of 19.1 percent was recorded in Metro Manila on Oct. 1.

Meanwhile, David noted that positivity rates were “very high” in Tarlac (51.8 percent), Camarines Sur (46.2 percent), Zambales (33.6 percent), South Cotabato (26.2 percent), Cavite (22.6 percent), Laguna (22.2 percent), and Rizal (21.2 percent).

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.

The World Health Organization-recommended positivity rate is 5 percent or less to show that the spread of the virus is under control.
