Robredo already packing to leave OVP as term nears end

Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo has started to pack up her things from the Quezon City Reception House where she held office for six years.

She shared photos of their “boxing day” on Facebook. Robredo was photographed overseeing her staff as they packed up their things.

“Countdown to June 30. Our last month in office. Second Boxing Day. Just realizing now how many books, souvenirs from provincial trips, plaques, letters, and other effects we have accumulated in 6 years,” she wrote, while adding photos from “Day 1-May 30” and “Day 2-May 31.”

Robredo is set to step down at noon on June 30 as Vice President-elect Sara Duterte is scheduled to assume her post.

A meeting between their transition teams has already been set for a “smooth transition of power.”

After losing to President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the outgoing Vice President revealed that she will set up an Angat Buhay NGO (non-government organization) on July 1. Angat Buhay is the OVP’s flagship poverty alleviation program that helped thousands of Filipinos through livelihood projects.

Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez said during an ANC interview on Tuesday, May 31, that they already cleared their offices of the boxes of relief goods that used to occupy the lobby.

“That’s probably the most basic level of preparing for transition—physical preparation of the office. Because another thing is, we’re not yet quite sure whether she would want to hold office at the same location,” he shared.

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay held office at Coconut Palace in Manila while Robredo stayed in Quezon City.

It is not clear yet where Duterte will choose to hold office since she will also be Secretary of Education under the incoming Marcos administration.
