Over 2,000 Covid-19 cases recorded—DOH

The Philippines once again recorded over 2,000 new Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, Sept. 29.

A total of 2,536 more people contracted the Covid-19 virus, latest DOH data showed.

This comes after the country recorded less than 2,000 cases on Sept. 27 and 28.

The country's active cases increased to 28,172, the DOH said.

Metro Manila still recorded the most cases in recent two weeks with 13,962. It was followed by Calabarzon with 5,307, Central Luzon with 2,794, Davao Region with 1,323, and Western Visayas with 808.

Metro Manila is under the moderate risk case classification for Covid-19 as it continues to see a spike in the number of infections, the DOH reported earlier.

Six areas in the capital region are also experiencing a rise in their Covid-19 hospital admissions. These areas are Pasig, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Makati, Navotas, and Caloocan City.

The country's caseload stood at 3.9 million, including 3.8 recoveries and 62,916 fatalities.

"To continue our march towards the new normal, let us continue to adhere to our minimum public health standards such as wearing the best-fitting mask, isolating when sick, doubling up protection through vaccines, and ensuring good airflow," the DOH said.
