Metro Manila Covid positivity rate up anew at 19% — OCTA

Metro Manila’s Covid-19 positivity over the past week has increased anew to 19 percent, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

In an update shared on Twitter, David said that the 19 percent weekly positivity rate recorded on Oct. 3 was higher than the 18.7 percent registered on Sept. 26, although it was lower than the 19.1 percent on Oct. 2.

“Hopefully, the positivity rate trends downward,” he added.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.

The World Health Organization has recommended that the Covid-19 positivity rate should remain at 5 percent or lower.

A positivity rate of less than 5 percent would indicate that the spread of the virus is under control.

Based on the data extracted from the Department of Health on Tuesday, Oct. 4, David noted that Metro Manila had the highest number of new cases at 547, followed by Cavite (119), Bulacan (99), Rizal (75), and Laguna (56).
