Alfred “Apid” Delos Santos of Ang Probinsyano Partylist formally took his oath of office before Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday, June 22.

This marks Delos Santos’ membership in the 19th Congress and his return to the legislative floor as a lawmaker-advocate focusing on rural development and capacity-building.

The Ang Probinsyano party-list reportedly aims to represent Filipinos in the provinces with the aim of helping poor farmers, promote Philippine history and culture. The party also aims to push for an “open high school” concept for students.

It gained popularity during the last May 9, 2022 elections when it was endorsed by Filipino artists and celebrities like Donnalyn Bartolome, JM De Guzman and talk show host Boy Abunda.

Ang Probinsyano Party-list is among the 51 winning party-list groups proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). It obtained at least two seats in the House of Representatives.
