'Future teachers of our nation': 18 LET passers recognized by Pasig LGU

The Pasig City local government recognized on Thursday, May 19, 18 future teachers who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in March 2022.

Mayor Vico Sotto met with the examinees who paid a courtesy call on him at the city hall.

Sotto shared that he was proud of their achievements, especially as products of the education offered by the city.

The passers hailed from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) College of Education which achieved a 90 percent passing rate in the exams.

Five came from PLP with a Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEEd), three with a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) in Math, four with a BSED in English, and six with a BSED in Filipino.

Examinee Elaiza Victoria, who graduated with a BSED in Filipino, ranked 10th among the LET passers nationwide, garnering a score of 89.80.

As a reward for her performance in the LET, Victoria is set to receive a P50,000 cash incentive from the local government.

The financial incentive was provided for by a resolution sponsored by Councilor Corazon "Corie" Raymundo to grant a monetary award to Victoria, which was approved on the third and final reading by the city council on Thursday, May 19.

The city government has been aiding prospective students in the city to ease the monetary burden of their education as well as with the expenses that graduates may incur during licensure examinations.

Last Feb. 10, the local government also gave financial incentives to 17 board exam takers who will be taking the Criminology Licensure Exam (CLE) and the Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE) this year. They were each given P10,000 to cover the costs of the application.

On the same day, Sotto also met with representatives of the PLP, congratulating them on being one of the recipients of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Gawad Parangal 2022 - EDUKALIDAD.

PLP was recognized in a ceremony at the Quezon City University on Wednesday, May 18, for having earned certificates of program compliance (COPC) for 75 percent of the college's offered programs.
