DOH reports over 2,000 new Covid-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,378 fresh cases of Covid-19 across the country on Friday, Sept. 23.

The number of active cases or those who are still sick with Covid-19 jumped to 30,056.

Most cases in the past 14 days were recorded in Metro Manila with 12,641 infections.

It was followed by Calabarzon with 4,523, Central Luzon with 2,560, Davao region with 1,233, and Western Visayas with 881.

Deaths related to Covid-19 increased to 62,730. The recovery tally rose to 3,839,369.

Since 2020, the Philippines has already recorded 3,932,155 confirmed cases of the viral disease.

Health expert and epidemiologist Dr. John Wong urged the public to still wear masks outdoors.

"Aside from protecting against Covid-19, masking has other benefits also," he said.

"It protects you from other respiratory diseases. Even if you are outdoors, the mask not only protects you from Covid but also from other respiratory diseases such as influenza," he added.
