The Quezon City government has opened to the public its newly renovated Quezon City Public Library (QCPL) Greater Project 4 Branch in Barangay Marilag on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The event was attended by Councilors Chuckie Antonio, Geleen Lumbad, and laywerAnton Reyes, QCPL Officer-in-charge Ms. Mariza Chico, Assistant City Administrator lawyer Rene Grapilon, QC District 3 Action Officer lawyer Tommy De Castro, city school principals, and Barangay Marilag officials.
The public library has free internet connection and various reading materials including children's, science, and fiction books, among others . Puzzles and toys are also displayed inside the facility.
Chico said the QCPL Greater Project 4 Branch was first inaugurated in 2016 to provide a space for students in the city to enhance their skills in reading and help them in their studies.
She encouraged the students to visit public libraries where librarians can help them in doing their research.
"Ang pagsasaayos at pagpapaganda ng ating mga library ay bahagi ng programa ng lungsod upang mahiyakat ang mga QCitizens, lalo na ang mga kabataan, sa pagbabasa (Renovating and improving our libraries is part of the city's program to encourage QCitizens, especially young people, to read) ," the city government said in a Facebook post.
The QCPL Greater Project 4 Branch is open Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
