Shawn Mendes says cancelling tour was 'very difficult' time for him

After announcing the postponement of his Wonder Tour in July 2022 to focus on his mental health, Grammy-nominated singer Shawn Mendes got serious about his mental health journey these days.

During his interview with Wallstreet Journal, Shawn shared how tricky it was to pull the plug during his tour. But with the help of his therapy, he could unpack everything he's been dealing with.

"The process was very difficult. A lot of doing therapy, a lot of trying to understand how I was feeling and what was making me feel that way. And then doing the work to help myself and heal," he told the news outlet. "And also leaning on people in my life to help a little bit."

Shawn, 24, said prioritizing his mental health was a lot of work when he started attending therapies.

"I think the last year and a half has been the most eye-opening and growing and beautiful and just healing process of my life," he said. "I'm also really grateful for all the people that were so accepting and loving and kind and understanding."

Since canceling his tour, the singer has been active outside the music scene. He recently played the voice of the titular reptile for the film "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" with Javier Bardem.

Recently, the singer was also named the new brand ambassador for jeweler David Yurman.
