Palace names Isidro Purisima as acting peace adviser

Malacañang on Tuesday, Feb. 21, released its list of new appointees, including the new presidential adviser on peace and reconciliation.

Palace press briefer Daphne Oseña-Paez said that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed Isidro Purisima as the Acting Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), formerly Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.

Purisima will replace Carlito Galvez Jr., who was recently appointed as the secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND).

Before his appointment, the new OPAPRU chief was the presidential assistant for Local Conflict Transformation and Peace Sustainability at OPAPRU.

The list of other appointees is as follows:

• Wilben M. Mayor - Presidential Assistant 1 of OPAPRU

• Valerie Joy Brion - Executive Director V of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas

• Gabriel Lagamayo - Acting Administrator and member of the Dairy Industry Board of the National Dairy Authority

• Domingo Bartolome Gonzaga - Director II of the National Meat Inspection Service

• Julieta Opulencia - Deputy Executive Director III of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries

• Senando A. Santiago - Acting General Manager and Chief Executive Officer and member, Board of Directors of the Laguna Lake Development Authority

• David D. Erro - acting member representing the Agrarian Reform beneficiaries of the Board of Directors of the LandBank of the Philippines

• Virginia Orogo - acting member representing the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries of the Board of Directors of the LandBank of the Philippines

• Emerico O. de Guzman - member representing the employer sector of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council

• Rufino M. Margate, Jr. - member representing employer sector of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council

• Flora Politud-Gabunales - Director IV

Meanwhile, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) shared that Benito Techico took his oath of office before Marcos as the Special Envoy of the President to the People's Republic of China for Trade, Investments, and Tourism.

“Sa kanyang bagong tungkulin, si Techico ay maglilingkod bilang kinatawan ng bansa sa China sa mga usapin na may kinalaman sa kalakalan, pamumuhunan, at turismo (In his new capacity, Techico will serve as the country’s representative to China in the issues about trade, investments, and tourism),” the post read.

“Inaasahang makikipagtulungan din siya sa mga opisyal ng pamahalaan, mga lider sa negosyo, at iba pang mahalagang stakeholder upang magpromote at mapabuti ang ekonomikong kooperasyon sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa (It is expected that he would also work with government officials, business leaders, and other important stakeholders to promote and uplift economic cooperation between the two countries),” it added.
