A mother and her two children died when they trapped inside their burning house in Pasay City on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The victims were identified as Mary Ann Maglinaw, 29, and her two children Xzavion Rivas, 2, and Evzekhion Rivas, 5.
Based on the report of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), the fire started around 9:50 a.m. at the house of the victims located in Barangay 117, Malibay, Pasay City.
The BFP said the fire reached the first alarm and was declared fire out around 10:16 a.m.
They also said the burned house which was made of light materials was being occupied by six families.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano immediately visited the area to determine the condition and give assistance to the fire victims and to commiserate with the family of thevictims.
She ordered the City Social Welfare and Development Office to distribute relief goods, folding beds, mats, towels, groceries, and hygiene kits to the fire victims who are seeking temporary at the covered court.
The mayor said the city government will also distribute financial assistance to the victim and burial assistance to the three fire victims.
“Sa mga panahon ng trahedyang ganito, laging bukas-palad ang ating pamahalaan upang kayo ay tulungan. Ako po ay nakikiramay sa mga namatayan at sa mga naapektuhan ng trahedyang ito. Makakaasa po kayo na ako at ang buong pamahalaan ng ating lungsod ay tutulong sa abot ng aming makakaya,” (In times of tragedy, the city government is open to help the victims. Condolence to the family of the three victims), Rubiano said.
The BFP is still determining the cause and the estimated damage to property caused by the fire.
