Several areas in Luzon may experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers in the next 24 hours because of the prevalence of a low pressure area (LPA) and the northeast monsoon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

PAGASA said the LPA was last spotted 340 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora or 345 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan around 3 a.m.

This weather disturbance will continue to bring light to occasional intense rains to mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.

Light to occasional heavy rains may also prevail over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

PAGASA warned against possible flooding or landslides, particularly in areas that are highly vulnerable to these hazards.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light monsoon rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against possible flooding or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
