Muntinlupa City Council passes ordinances to give financial assistance to fire victims
The Muntinlupa City Council on Feb. 20 passed three appropriations ordinances to give financial assistance amounting to P697,000 to 112 families that were affected by three fires this month.
On Feb. 11, a fire hit Hacienda Rosario in Purok 2, Sucat, affecting 17 families composed of 53 individuals.
Last Feb. 17, a fire in the Bukal area in Barangay Poblacion razed 19 structures and left 49 families or 181 people homeless, according to the Muntinlupa Social Services Department.
Another fire hit a residential area on Concepcion Road in Barangay Buli on Feb. 19, razing 27 structures and affecting 46 families or 130 individuals.




During the Muntinlupa City Council’s regular session on Feb. 20, councilors discussed the fire incidents and passed the three ordinances for the granting of financial assistance to the families.
For the Sucat fire, P92,000 will be given to the affected families; P288,000 for the 49 families in Barangay Poblacion; and P317,000 for the 46 families in Barangay Buli for a total of P697,000.
All the families were earlier given immediate assistance through household items and food by the Muntinlupa City government.
During the flag raising ceremony at the Muntinlupa City hall on Feb. 20, Mayor Ruffy Biazon reminded the public to be aware and protect their homes from fire.
