The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of the P29,383,828.33 million permanent bridge along Marcos Alvarez Road in Las Piñas City.
DPWH Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office (LPMDEO) District Engineer Isabelo Baleros explained that the “replacement of the permanent weak bridges’’ is part of the regular maintenance work conducted by his office.
“This is to preserve the entire bridges and their components, prevent future deterioration and sustain or improve their condition to keep the roads open to traffic,” Baleros said.
The funds for the 19.167 meter long bridge were sourced from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2021.
Aside from the bridge project, Baleros stated that flood control structures, slope protection works, road and maintenance road projects were also undertaken and completed on time by the DPWH-LPMDEO.
Baleros noted his office recorded a 71.89 percent accomplishment rating in the 2022 regular infrastructure program.
Out of the 147 projects amounting to P3.3 billion as of Sept. 2022, Baleros reported that 70 were completed, 76 are on-going and one has not yet been started. (Chito A. Chavez)
