330 Malabon residents receive financial aid

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda distributed financial assistance to around 330 families in crisis situations at the Barangay Potrero Covered Court, in the city on Monday, Feb. 20.

The Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) aims to provide families that are victims of flood, fire, and other incidents with financial/material assistance for their various needs such as food, transportation, and burial.

"Ngayong araw, 330 na kababayan natin ang makakatanggap ng P3,000. Ang tulong pinansyal na ito ay aagapay sa kanilang mga pangangailangan kagaya ng pagpapagamot (Today, 330 of our people will receive P3,000. This financial assistance will help in their needs such as medical treatment)," Sandoval said.

"Sa pamamagitan ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation o AICS ay nakakatulong tayo sa mga pangangailangan ng mga indibidwal at pamilya sa ating lungsod na nakakaranas ng mga hamon sa buhay (Through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation or AICS, we are able help individuals and families in our city who are facing challenges in life)," she added.

Services such as dermatological consultation, mole and warts removal, and minor surgery for cyst were also brought to around 365 pre-registered residents through Legarda's Lingkod Loren Medical Mission in partnership with the local government and other private groups.

Medicines and vitamins from the Department of Health were also distributed.

Ten wheelchairs were also given by Legarda to persons with disabilities.

The program was first launched by the senator in 1998.

Legarda, who also grew up in Malabon, said she will continue to help city residents by providing them with livelihood assistance.

Sandoval shared that since she started her term as mayor last year, the city government already provided P10.5 million medical financial assistance to 8,500 individuals and P600,000 worth of free medicines.

She also thanked Legarda for bringing the programs to the city residents.

"Ang pagbibigay ng libre at kalidad na kalingang medikal ay isa sa mga prayoridad ng ating administrasyon. Ang programang ito ay magsisilbing inspirasyon upang pagibayuhin pa ang pagsisikap para sa mithiing ito (Providing free and quality medical care is one of the priorities of our administration. This program will serve as an inspiration for us to achieve this goal)," Sandoval said.

"Ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Malabon ay patuloy na susuporta sa iba’t ibang tanggapang ng pamahalaan sa paghahatid ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan. Makatitiyak kayo na magiging instrumento kami upang maging biyaya tayo sa mga taga-Malabon (The city government of Malabon will continue to support various government offices in delivering assistance to our fellow citizens. Rest assured that we will be the instrument in bringing blessings to the people of Malabon)" the mayor added.
