20 MPUJs accosted in Metro Manila for overloading, other violations- LTFRB
Enforcers of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have accosted 20 modern public utility jeepneys (MPUJ) in two separate operations in Caloocan City and Quezon City amid reports of overloading and other violations.

In a statement, the LTFRB said four of the accosted MPUJs were found to be overloaded while eight were not wearing the prescribed uniform. Four others were apprehended for having a defective break light, two for failure to post fare matrix, one for failure to post a "No Smoking" sign, and one for failure to show Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) card.
LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said all the accosted MPUJs were fined P5,000 each for violation of the Memorandum Circular 2011-004 of the Joint Administrative Order 2014-01.
"I am urging all drivers and operators of public utility vehicles to follow the rules and regulations to avoid inconvenience especially on their passengers," said Guadiz.
He said more surprise operations will be conducted in the coming days.
