Suspect in 2022 ambush-slay of Maguindanao town police chief killed in Tacurong City
Police killed one of the principal suspects in last year's ambush-slay of the chief of police of Ampatuan town in Maguindanao during a follow-up operation in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat on Saturday, Feb 18.
He was identified as Abdulkarim Hashim, alias Boy Jacket, one of the alleged attackers in the Aug. 30, 2022 ambush in Ampatuan town that led to the death of Police Lt. Reynaldo Samson.

Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Phgilippine National Police (PNP), said police intelligence operatives, backed by the local police and police elite units, swooped down on the lair of Hashim in Purok Yellow Bell, Brgy. New Isabela, Tacurong City that led to a brief gun battle when he allegedly tried to shoot it out.
The operation, according to Azurin, was covered by an arrest warrant issued by a local court in connection with Samson's killing.
Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, director of the Police Regional Office 12, said Hashim has been identified by police investigations as the main perpetrator in the ambush and is also linked to a series of harassments of the patrol base of 40 Infantry Battalion, 601st Brigade in Datu Hofer municipality, Maguindanao Del Sur.
