A photographer and a technician were shot and wounded in Tanauan City and Lipa City in Batangas on Saturday morning, Feb. 18.
Police identified the victims as photographer Larry Laura, 47, widower and resident of Poblacion 4, Tanauan City, and technician Lisa Marrie Cabanhon, 32, single, of Barangay San Carlos, Lipa City.
Laura was about to ride his motorcycle when two unidentified men arrived and shot him. He was taken to the hospital and police are pursuing the gunmen.
The victim was reportedly planning to run for barangay chairman in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Cabanhon was shot by a security guard in a drug store.
Police said the victim was accosted by the suspect, Ernesto Precilla, 50, of Barangay Talisay, Lipa City after she refused to pay for the items she took.
Cabanhon became aggressive and attempted to stab the suspect with a bladed weapon, prompting him to shoot the victim.
Precilla was arrested and the victim was taken to the hospital.
