The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reminded the public that the efforts to minimize the number of fire incidents in the country remain a shared responsibility among the citizens, government agencies, civic organizations and private firms.
The BFP made the statement amid the series of big fire incidents which some observers believe to be alarming, including the Sampaloc and BASECO Compound in Manila fire and another in Pasay City.
The agency said it has lined up numerous programs through the years to lessen if not totally prevent fire incidents in the community, including the KAISA and the OPLAN Ligtas na Pamayanan which are rpursued in the communities and private establishments.
Under the KAISA otherwise referred to as the “Call to Action Against Destructive Fire’’ campaign is a program where government agencies, non-government organizations, civic groups and the BFP partner to make their establishments self-reliant in preventing fire incidents.
The OPLAN Ligtas na Pamayanan is the BFP’s program that provides [protection to the communities against fire incidents through the fire protection plans and deployment of fire auxiliary groups.
But the BFP said such programs will only be successful with the full cooperation of the public starting from the community level.
"Every citizen should take in heart and strictly follow the fire prevention tips which the BFP constantly reminds the public in its wide-range information drive to prevent fire incidents," the BFP said.
