Several parts of Luzon and Visayas will experience rains due to a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Feb. 19.

PAGASA said the LPA was in the vicinity of San Vicente, Northern Samar or 40 kilometers east of Masbate City around 10 a.m.

The LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours but the weather bureau is still not ruling out the possibility of intensification into a cyclone in the next few days.

In the next 24 hours, the LPA will bring moderate to occasional intense rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and Samar.

Light to occasional heavy rains may also affect Metro Manila, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Batanes, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, northern Palawan, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras.

PAGASA warned against possible flooding or landslides, particularly in areas that are highly vulnerable to these hazards.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

The public is also warned against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
