Onic PH denies Omega reverse-sweep bid for winning start to MPL PH S11 campaign
Onic Philippines opened its MPL Philippines Season 11 campaign on a winning note, denying Smart Omega Esports its patented comeback with a 2-1 victory at the Shooting Gallery Studio on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Hedgehogs pulled themselves together and endured the initial onslaught from Omega, pulling off the big plays in the crucial moments to score the come-from-behind Game 3 win that closed out the series.
Trailing for the most part of the winner-take-all Game 3, Onic made a huge diversion play in the 15th minute when it tried to pick off in Duane “Kelra:” Pillas’ Brody in the top lane. Omega was forced to react and while Kelra managed to come away alive, Onic took the opportunity to burst down the enhanced Lord which proved to be the catalyst in the come-from-behind Game 3 win.
With the Lord siege and a pick off on three heroes of Omega, Onic closed out the series with a 13-12 win.
Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez finished with 4-1-5 line on his Valentina pick while Jefferdson “Kekedot” Mogol added a 2-3-8 line on the Kaja.
It was actually Onic which drew the series first blood with a 9-3 victory with Kekedot putting on the map pressure on Omega with the roaming Natalia pick. Kekedot unloaded a 5-2-2 line in that rousing 9-3 Game 1 win as Onic denied Omega its resources en route to bagging the first point of the series.
Omega, though, known for its comeback genes, refused to go down without a fight as it completed the first step to its reverse sweep bid with a masterful 11-4 win in Game 2. Kelra put his entire team on his back as he dominated the team fights with his signature Karrie pick.
Kelra just peeled down the tanky frontline of Onic which has the Fredrinn, Ruby and Martis picks all of which are weak to his Karrie’s DPS damage to put up a neat 4-0-4 line. Mico “Mikko” Tabangay, who took the place of MPL Hall of Legends member Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog in the lineup, displayed his wares with a 4-2-5 line on the roaming Jawhead.
