Nueva Ecija cops seize fake cigarettes in Cabiao, dealer nabbed

NUEVA ECIJA – A 25-year old female dealer of fake cigarettes was arrested by authorities during a buy-bust operation in Cabiao town here on Friday, Feb. 17.

The buy-bust was conducted by operatives of Cabiao police in Brgy. San Vicente, Cabiao which resulted in the arrest of alias Jenny.

The raiders confiscated from the suspect 50 reams of Duston cigarettes and 25 reams of Two Moon cigarettes, with an estimated market value of P17,000.

The arrested suspect and the contrabands are now under the custody of Cabiao police for proper disposition.

Suspect is now facing charges for violation R.A. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

"We will not tolerate illegal traders of fake cigarettes to carry on with their illegal practices, these smuggled products shall be continuously prohibited from reaching the markets," said Colonel Richard Caballero, provincial director of the Nueva Ecija Philippine National Police.
