Carla Abellana's camp explains protection order relating Tom Rodriguez
Carla Abellana's lawyer, Atty. Peter Sanchez, has come out to explain the temporary protection order granted their client in relation to ex-husband, Tom Rodriguez.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, the lawyer maintained it is merely for Carla being allowed to "invoke protection."
"If they are in the same building, the same locality, if she doesn't feel threatened or in any manner uncomfortable, she can opt not to (enforce it). Once she feels, 'I don't like this feeling anymore,' she can request the other party to leave in accordance with the orders of the court,” he added.
Meanwhile, when asked why she called it quits with her husband, Carla reiterated, she simply reached her "breaking point."
"Basically, the bottomline is, umabot na sa breaking point. Sobra na po," she said, relating: “There was still disrespect, all the lying, there was no change. Hindi po yun first time na nangyari sa amin... pero ito po is taken to a different level, talagang mas extreme na, mas malala.”
She is thankful that Tom took effort by himself to get a divorce in the US last June.
According to Carla, she's actually "very happy" that Tom did so as it will make it easier for them both to move on.
"Para hindi na po kami mag-file ng petition for nulity dito (sa Pilipinas)," she said.
"Kasi hindi na po namin kailangan ilabas yung mga sama ng loob or dirty laundry ng bawat isa. We don't have to go through to that entire process ng annulment dito po sa atin," she added.
Now, she just needs to file a petition for the recognition of the judgment here.
