Advocates urged to send list of activities for upcoming women's month celebration
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) encouraged advocates and stakeholders to submit their lineup of activities for the upcoming National Women’s Month Celebration.
Submitted entries may be included in the official calendar of events for NWMC 2023. Upcoming plans and projects may be sent at bit.ly/2023NWMCalendarofEvents. PCW, however, reminded the public that they will screen the submitted activities thoroughly.
“We want to know more about your activities, take note that only that are relevant to Gender and Development and the theme of this year’s celebration will be included in the 2023 NWMC Calendar of Event page upon assessment of PCW,” the commission stressed.
NWM is celebrated annually to highlight women’s achievements and discuss the plight of women amid the continuing gender issues and concerns. This year’s theme focuses on gender equality and inclusive society.

Suggested activities for NWMC
Apart from encouraging advocates to send their line up of activities, PCW also suggested a set of tasks ahead of the celebration in March. Among these activities include the use of the “All-women cast of Lupang Hinirang Video” in public and private advocates’ flag ceremonies.
Stakeholders may also show support by adopting the #PurpleWednesdays and #PurpleYourIcon — an initiative that requires participants to wear anything purple on all the Wednesdays of March.
“ to signify support for women’s empowerment and gender equality. can also light up or decorate offices or landmarks in purple to spark interest and discourse on the celebration and what it stands for,” said PCW.
For government and private organizations, a special way to honor women and girls, according to the commission, may be expressed by offering freebies, discounts, special lanes, as well as other promos on March 8, 2023 in time for the International Women’s Day.
