Shopping mall in Negros Occidental loses P9 M worth of jewelries, cash to robbers
BACOLOD CITY – Police are probing the P9 million worth of jewelries and cash allegedly robbed from a shopping mall in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Based on initial investigation, three unidentified persons allegedly forcibly entered the mall by making a hole in the wall of a grocery area located beside a vacant lot.
The suspects then allegedly cut the roll-up door leading to the grocery store through the tenant kiosk area.
The robbers then proceeded to one kiosk, where they forcibly opened a vault containing the said stolen items.
According to the Negros Occidental police, the kiosk owner declared the said value of the stolen items.
However, Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of Negros Occidental police, said that inventory was still ongoing.
He said that police have no lead yet on the identities of the perpetrators.
Police recovered from the scene a pair of construction gloves, a bonnet, and a blue long sleeve shirt.
