PH Red Cross to ship winter tents to Türkiye-Syria quake victims
A total of 228 winter tents will be shipped by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to Türkiye on Saturday, Feb. 18, for the victims of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the country and its neighboring state, Syria.

"The winter tents will provide temporary shelter and help warm the quake victims in Türkiye as the country is still experiencing winter conditions," said PRC on Friday, Feb. 17.
This aid is in addition to the $100,000 or P5,451,100 donated by the PRC to the two countries and the P10 million donation from the House of Representatives.

"We at the Philippine Red Cross will continue to communicate with our Turkish and Syrian counterparts under the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to monitor the further humanitarian needs of our brothers and sisters. Aid is on the way," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye has also asked for assistance from PRC in collecting donations for the victims.
